A Passion For J Acts 2:1-4A PENTECOSTAL REVIVAL
INTRODUCTION:
What is a Pentecostal Revival? So often what we see in the Books of Acts is not what we see in
many Pentecostal Churches.
LETS LOOK AT WHAT A PENTECOSTAL REVIVAL IS NOT:
It is not a revival of programs.
It’s not a revival of human personalities.
It’s not a revival of pomp and circumstance.
BUT RATHER A PENTECOSTAL REVIVAL IS A REVIVAL OF PASSION: When they came down out of the upper room they didn’t come
down whispering;
They didn’t hide in the shadows;
They came down with a revived “PASSION”.
True “PASSION” will always come out in our speech and actions. Beloved, if people do not see and hear JESUS in us then our
“PASSION” is lacking. I see the “PASSION” from the upper room making its way like a
river downstairs and into the city.
It could not be concealed in the upper room.
It flowed into the city and eventually into the whole world.
WHEN WE HEAR OUR MISSIONARIES SPEAKING OF REVIVAL ABROAD:
It doesn’t happen because of education or facilities or
finances.
Revival happens because of a “PASSION” for God.
JAMES
IN HIS EPISTLE SPOKE OF TRUE RELIGION: “True religion and undefiled is to visit the fatherless and widows
and orphans”.
True religion will do something about the plight of the
outcast. True religion has enough compassion to care and to make a
difference in changing lives.
BELOVED:
There is no Christianity without compassion.
And there can be no “COM-PASSION”, without “PASSION”. Jesus himself was often moved with “PASSION” to minister to
the masses. “COMPASSION” moves us; it motivates us and compels us to do
something.
BELOVED, JESUS WAS A COMPASSIONATE MAN:
He came to the sick and needy with compassion. He came to the moneychangers in the temple with a passion of
rebuke.
Beloved, “WHAT WOULD WE GIVE”, for a passion for souls?
WHEN WE HAVE REVIVAL:
We will have a passion for the lost.
We will have a pity for them with yearning.
We will love them with a love unto death.
O, GOD! For a fire that burns within!
LORD, let “PENTECOST” again burn in us.
PAUL TOLD TIMOTHY: 2nd. Tim.1: 6
“Stir up the gift of God, which is in thee… Beloved, a “PASSIONLESS” church is a church, which has left
its first love. A “PASSIONLESS” church does not have the cool refreshing
spring, nor does it have the hot therapeutic springs.
A “PASSIONLESS” church has become lukewarm. They have become half-hearted, empty, apathetic and
complacent.
Don’t let the “PASSION” die.
Don’t lose your “FIRST LOVE”, fire!
GOD HELP US TO PRAY FOR A REVIVAL: Where the winds would blow over the embers of the
“PENTECOSTAL” movement again.
God give us a ‘PASSION” for prayer again.
Give us a “PASSION” to “PRAISE” again.
Lord, give us a “PASSION” for you in your all of your splendor!
WHEN THEY LEFT THE UPPER ROOM: They went out into the world and turned the world, upside down,
(right side up). Jesus said, “But ye shall receive POWER, after that the Holy
Ghost is come upon you. And ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth.
I thank God that we do have a God of power.
Our God is not like the gods of wood and stone.
Those gods have hands but cannot save.
They have ears and cannot hear.
They have eyes but cannot see.
THE GODS OF HUMANISM CANNOT LIFT A MAN FROM SIN AND DEGRADATION:
Those gods cannot transform a man.
BUT OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD: “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power
belongeth unto God”. Psa. 62:11
BUT WE MUST BELIEVE THAT NOT ONLY DOES GOD HAVE POWER:
He wants us to have “POWER” also.
His “POWER” working through us. “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly
according to the power that worketh in us”. Eph. 3:20
POWER THAT WORKETH IN US:
Power to “SHOUT” if you want to! The shout in a man is normal, if his sins have been forgiven.
Amen?
Now, ‘SHOUTING”, is not a sign of power.
But rather a sign of “JOY”. Amen? Beloved, if you’ve lost your joy, ask God to remind you of how it
felt to have your sins lifted off your shoulders.
GOD, GIVE US A REVIVAL OF JOY! ? Amen?
God, give us our “POWER” back to witness.
Power to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.
God give us “REVIVAL” in our souls.
GOD GIVE US A REVIVAL OF YOUR PRESENCE:
The early church lived in His presence and walked in the spirit.
JESUS SAID:
“I will not leave you comfortless”;
HE SAID: “I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another comforter,
that He may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth”.
THE HOLY SPIRIT DOESN’T JUST WANT TO VISIT US IN REVIVAL:
But rather, He was sent to “ABIDE” with us.
His purpose is to take up residence within our heart and soul. And when He is in residence, He will witness with our spirit that
we are the children of God!
FAR TOO LONG HAVE WE BEEN TOO SATISFIED:
Going through the motions of having church is not enough.
We must long for His “PRESENCE” with a passion. His presence is our source of a continual “REVIVAL” within.
Amen?
I HEAR THE PSALMIST DAVID SAYING: “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple”.
Psalms 27:4 Beloved if our desire is not for a passion, and the power and His
presence, we need revival. Amen?
