HOW BIG IS YOUR GOD? MY GOD IS A BIG OL’ GOD July 22, 2005Genesis 1: 1INTRODUCTION: 1- J. B. Phillips wrote a book called; “Your God is too small” 2- And people sometimes not meaning to do put limits on God! “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” Gen. 1: 1 1- Anybody here able to do that? I didn’t think so! 2- Beloved; we can’t begin to approach the power of our “Great God”! Lift your eyes and look to the heavens; who created all these things? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Isa. 40: 26 1- Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Amen? 2- Did you catch that? 3- Not by any power on our part; “But by His Great Power, it’s done”!
THERE’S A STORY ABOUT SOME OF OUR SCIENTISTS: 1- They went to God and said; God, we don’t need you anymore; 2- We have figured out how to make man out of dirt, just like you did! 3- And God said; OK, lets have man-making contest! 4- And the scientists said; “OK You’re on! 5- So one of the scientists bent over, grabbed some dirt and God said; 6- “Wait just a minute”, go and make your own dirt! 7- HELLO! 8- Folks, we can’t even make dirt, for crying out loud! Amen?
MY GOD IS A MIGHTY BIG GOD: 1- He’s so big He can handle the worlds political system! Amen? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.
BELOVED; MY GOD IS A MIGHTY BIG GOD! 1- Can God handle the political situation in our world today! 2- Yes He can; and Yes He is handling it right now! 3- If Al Gore had gotten the Presidency back two elections ago: 4- God would have still been on the throne! 5- And from His Throne; He handles every situation; whether political or non political. 6- It didn’t matter who got the presidency; God is still in control. Amen? 7- We don’t have to worry about the “White House”. 8- My God is a Mighty Big God! 9- Is there anything too hard for God? 10- Who can separate us from the love of God? 11- Can anyone pluck us out of His hand?
OUR GOD IS A MIGHTY BIG GOD! HE CAN TRIUMPH OVER EVIL: 1- How many of you know that evil to man is as rust to metal? 2- And if you want to get rid of rust; you have to destroy a portion of that metal infested. 3- God one day will rid us and the world of evil. 4- But presently God has not chosen to get rid of evil; because evil is not Satan. 5- Evil is Satan using man to sin.
MY GOD IS A MIGHTY BIG GOD! AND HE CAN HEAL OUR LAND: 1- You’re already familiar with 2nd. Chronicles 7: 14; but let me read it again. If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 1- This passage is directed to those who call themselves followers of God Almighty. 2- Friends, God’s people need to fall on their knees and be refreshed! Amen? 3- If you; as I do, have need to be healed; we need to call on God. 4- Our God is a Mighty Big God! HE SAID: “Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and don’t do what I say?” 1- Beloved; if we really want to see a Revival and a Healing in this country. 2- It needs to begin in the Church of God! 3- Judgment must begin at the house of God!
I REMEMBER HEZEKIAH WHO NEEDED HEALING AND DAYS OF LIFE LENGTHENED 1- And he turned his face to the wall and God heard his prayer and healed him; 2- And added 15 more years to his days to live. 3- God would be pleased with that! 4- Turn our face toward God! Humble ourselves and pray and seek Him. 5- Our God is a Mighty Big God! 6- If we want our land healed; If we want to be made keenly aware of His presence again. 7- Turn to God; it all begins and ends with Him. 8- Our God is a Mighty Big God! He’s so big!
HE CAN SAVE MANKIND: For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Jn. 3: 16
BUT GO ON TO VERSE 17 WITH ME: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world might be saved through Him 1- We do such a good job telling folks they’re going to Hell. 2- But we fail to tell them that God has made a way out. 3- There is a Hell by the way; 4- But my God is a Mighty Big God and He’s made a way to spend Eternity in glory with Him. 5- Though the wages of sin is death; the gift of God is Eternal Life. Amen? 6- Jesus said; “Hey, I’ve got an idea”, instead of you dying; “I’LL DIE”. 7- And so He did; taking your sin and my sin to His Cross and nailing them there; He paid the price for our sins. 8- And He arose from the grave conquering sin and death that we can spend Eternity with Him. He who knew no sin became sin that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 9- Give Him “PRAISE AND GLORY!”\
OUR GOD IS A MIGHTY BIG GOD! Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them, Heb. 7: 25 1- Is God a Mighty Big God or what? 2- He doesn’t just save somewhat. 3- He didn’t just kinda save us. 4- He doesn’t just save a little bit. 5- He doesn’t save us halfway; 6- He saves to the uttermost; completely! Amen? 7- Is that worth “SHOUTING ABOUT”? 8- And here’s another gold nugget tucked away here. 9- He ever liveth to make intercession for you; 10-He’s living and praying for you right now. Amen? 11-He told Peter one day; “Peter, Satan has desired to sift you; but I’ve prayed for you”! 12-Friends; We have a great big ol’ God; He’s alive and praying right now for you!
I’VE COME TO JUMP START A NEW GRASP ON OUR MIGHTY BIG GOD! 1- How many of you know? I mean, “Really Know that God loves you”? 2- He loved you so much that when Adam and Eve lost their innocence in the Garden! 3- With His very own hand; He wrote on Tablets of stone; the way for us to live! 4- He gave Moses the Ten Commandments; the law of God as guidelines. 5- Could man keep them perfectly? No! No way. 6- But they would draw man to God for Help to live by the Ten Commandments! 7- When you fail God; Don’t give up! 8- Allow God’s promises to draw you back to Him through the Spirit and the Word.
THERE ARE THREE THINGS SO IMPORTANT TO GOD AND MAN; THAT GOD WROTE THEM WITH HIS OWN HAND: 1- God loved man so much He wrote the guidelines for us to live by; The Ten Commandments!
THEN HE WROTE OF THE JUDGMENTS OF GOD: 1- When King Belteshazzar was having a party with the vessels from the temple: 2- Corrupting the sacred thing; crying “Fill them up again”. 3- The hand of God wrote of Judgment to come for such in defiance of A Mighty Big God! 4- Mene Mene Tekle Upharsin: “Thou art weighed in the balances and found wanting”. Belteshazzar lost out with God! 5- Friends! It’s a terrible thing to fall into the hands of an avenging God. 6- Our Mighty Big God wrote the Law and He wrote of His judgment to come;
BUT THANK GOD HE ALSO WROTE SOMETHNG CALLED MERCY; WE ALL NEED IT; 1- That Religious bunch called the Scribes and the Pharisees. 2- Took this woman; caught in the very act of adultery; 3- Brought her stripped in this condition and threw her down at the feet of Jesus! 4- That’s a Mighty Good Place to be: At Jesus Feet! Amen? 5- They said to Jesus; “The law says this woman should be stoned to death” 6- But what do you say?
AND JESUS STOOPED DOWN AND WROTE ON THE GROUND WITH HIS FINGER: 1- What did He write Preacher? 2- I really don’t know; but I really do believe He wrote of His Mercy and Grace!
HE ASKED THE WOMAN: 1- Woman, where are thine accusers? Hast thou none? 2- And she said “No man Lord” 3- And He said; “Neither do I condemn thee; go and sin no more”! 4- Friends; that’s all it takes; Just turn around; 5- Accept the Lords forgiveness. 6- Turn around and touch not the unclean thing and the Lord will receive you. 7- He’s standing with outstretched arms right now! 8- And every one said; “AMEN”
