CHANGING CLOTHES February 17, 2005 Isaiah 61: 1-3INTRODUCTION: 1- God would have us all to walk no more in the ways of this world. 2- And to partake of what Jesus provided for us in His work on the Cross. 3- Beloved; we can be found doing just that. 4- No more being clothed in filthy, nasty rags. 5- God would have us to cast off the lower things and take on the higher ones. 6- Good by to the OLD MAN and HELLO to the NEW MAN. 7- Jesus has made all this possible on His Cross
THERES GOOD NEWS FROM ZION TODAY: 1- Be encouraged in the Lord today! 2- You no longer have to walk around clothed in tools of defeat; with weights and schemes. 3- Be BLESSED & REFRESHED today and go on with GOD!
CHAPTERS PRECEEDING 61 ADDRESSES SOME THINGS: 1- In chpt 58, Israels progress of recovery had been slowed down. 2- In chpt. 59 we’re told that His MIGHTY hand was not shortened; & he was able to save. 3- Chpt. 60 gives the picature of Zion’s future glory. 4- And chpt. 61 our GREAT MESSIANIC KING is ushered in. 5- And all His glory was to be seen in Zion. 6- All this pointing to “JESUS” the KING OF GLORY! NOW ON THIS SIDE OF PROPHECY: 1- Jesus has already come; already died, was buried and has risen again. 2- The enemy has been defeated and we are Victors with Jesus Christ the Lord.
LUKE RECORDS THAT JESUS IN THE TEMPLE WAS GIVEN THE SCROLL TO READ 1- And He read Isaiah 61: 1-37 2- Jesus rolled the scroll back up; sat down and said; 3- “Today, this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing”. 4- This day; “TODAY”, is the anointed one in your midst. 5- This day; “TODAY” the one “WHO CAN DO IT” is in your midst.
AREN’T YOU THANKFUL TODAY: 1- That the one WHO CAN is here! 2- I know a man WHO CAN do all things. 3- Except one thing! He’ll never FAIL. 4- He’s able to wash away all our sins and set us free of our VICES! Amen? 5- Thank God! “The ANOINTED ONE is here! 6- And He will deliver you from oppression. 7- And give you JOY; GREAT JOY to revel in.
THANK GOD FOR THE ANOINTED ONE: 1- He loves us the way we are; but He loves us too much to leave us as we are. 2- He has come to help us to change our clothes! JESUS CAME ALL THE WAY FROM GLORY TO BRING ABOUT A CHANGE IN US: 1- When He comes in; changes will occur. 2- He never leaves things as they were. 3- He has been ANOINTED to bring change to your life.
HOWEVER THERE SOME CONTINGENCIES UPON THE BLESSING: 1- Jesus the one from whom all blessings flow is the source of blessing. 2- Then we’re given the picture of who will receive the blessing. 3- The meek and the afflicted will be more receptive. 4- Once the GOOD NEWS is heard and received; 5- The broken hearted the downcast; those in need will reach out to the BLESSER. 6- Broken hearts are HUMBLE hearts & gladly will embrace God’s pardon! Amen? 7- Are you ready to change clothes yet?
HE; THE ANOINTED ONE HAS COME TO: 1- Bind up the BROKEN HEARTED; 2- The ones deeply grieved over their sins! 3- Have you been crushed by lifes adversities? 4- Jesus the ANOINTED ONE has come to mend; to encourage, lifting up and restoring! A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. Isa. 42: 3 1- How good it is to know that God is in the Restoration business. 2- Not just a makeover; but restored to originality. ARE YOU BROKEN AND BRUISED TODAY: 1- Do you have need to be bound-up and cared for? 2- Look to Jesus! The author and finisher of your FAITH. 3- Are you ready to change clothes?
THE ANOINTED ONE HAS COME TO GIVE LIBERTY TO THE CAPTIVES AND FREEDOM TO THOSE IMPRISONED: 1- Anyone here today; imprisoned by whatever? You name it; you know your imprisonment. 2- Are you bound by some UN-HAPPY thing?
IN THE CONTEXT OF GIVING LIBERTY AND FREEDOM WAS THE YEAR OF JUBILEE: And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all lthe inhabitants tghereof: it shall be a jubliee uto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. Lev. 25: 10 JUBILEE WAS SIMPLY A RETURNING TO WHAT WAS: 1- A time when ALL were released and set free. 2- Liberty was known by all people & things. 3- It was a WHOLESALE deliverance if you will. 4- Slaves were released; family members working off debts were released. 5- Debts were forgiven; lives were changed. 6- JUBILEE, every 50 years; freedom known by everyone. 7- But the GOOD NEWS is this; You don’t have to wait another 50 years. 8- The ANOINTED ONE has come today to set you free. 9- Are you ready to change clothes? GET READY; GET READY; CHANGE IS COMING: 1- God has a favorable day for us all. 2- And God has a day of vengence! 3- And what He seems to be saying is that you will have a day of retribution for what you’ve endured from others. 4- God will repay and God will avenge us! 5- There is coming a change for you and “IT’LL BE JOY” like never before! THE ENEMY OF THE CHURCH HAS BEEN DOING HIS BEST WORK: 1- He’s been at work removing OUR PRAISE and us of OUR JOY. 2- Do you agree? 3- We have lost the JOY and PRAISE! 4- Are you ready to change clothes? THE ANOINTED ONE IS AMONG US TO CHANGE US: 1- And the trade off is simple; 2- Get a spirit of PRAISE on you! 3- Unclothe yourself from the spirit of despair & no hope. 4- Get rid of it! “LIFT YOUR VOICES TO GOD”! 5- Paul and Silas did it even while in prison. 6- And Job did it even in the worst of time!
A SPIRIT OF PRAISE, “lift your hands and praise the Lord. 1- Change clothes today; and put on the Garments of Praise!
WHEN THE ANOINTED ONE COMES THERE WILL COME A CELEBRATION: 1- Get Ready, Get Ready! “IT’S TIME TO CHANGE CLOTHES” 2- Put on the “GARMENT OF PRAISE” 3- Trade in your “ashes”. 4- Your sorrow, pain, & miseries.
LIFT UP YOUR HEAD! 1- And let us all remember that our REDEEMPTION draweth nigh. 2- How wonderful it will be to be in total “CELEBRATION” when He comes.
THERE’S A CLOUD OF WITNESSES WATCHING US: “Wherefodre seeing we also are compassed abouit with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside verey weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”. Heb. 12: 1 1- Change your clothes, somebody’s watching!
